My Favorite Movies of the Summer
I don’t get a chance to go to the movies very often; I’ve got several little ones and they make moviegoing difficult. Go Netflix. I did get a chance to see a couple movies this summer, and here’s my two favorites:
Transformers: I like action/adventure flicks, I like robots, and I like Transformers (I had them as a kid), so this movie was a no-brainer. The effects are very cool, and it was fun to see the robots so animated and lifelike. The movie was a bit long at over two hours, but it’s worth it. Of course, the Autobots defeat the Decepticons, but you knew that anyways. The fun is in the action and effects. A good movie if your tastes aren’t too high brow.
300: Based on a graphic novel of a true story of how 300 Spartan Warriors, with the assistance of other warriors from surrounding Greek city-states, held off the invading Persion army that is estimated to have been upwards of 1 million warriors strong. Yes, 1 million (estimates vary, but it no matter what, it was big, and the Greeks were heavily outnumbered). This movie is gory, so stay away if you can’t stomach it, but there’s more great action and violence, and the effects are great. A really unique way of doing things. If you liked Gladiator or Braveheart, you’ll like this one.
If you like these types of movies, be sure to check these two out when they hit the rental shelves.
